Submissions

WCISVR, the flagship conference of the International Society for Virtual Rehabilitation, is an international conference series that provides an in-depth presentation of novel technologies and clinical developments in the field of virtual reality and associated topics applied to rehabilitation. Researchers, clinicians, and technology experts meet, share experiences, and plan for the future. We invite submissions for papers, posters, demonstrations, and workshops covering a wide range of VR-related topics, including:

  • VR for rehabilitation (motor, cognition, perception, pain, psychological, vestibular, balance, locomotion)
  • Exergaming / low-cost systems
  • Augmented or Mixed reality
  • Brain computer interfaces, machine learning, artificial intelligence
  • Tele-rehabilitation
  • Knowledge translation
  • Haptic interfaces
  • Regulatory, educational, sociological, demographic, and legal aspects of VR

Posters & Platforms

Potential presenters will be accepted based on a peer-review of the submitted abstract. Poster abstracts must be two (2) pages or less in length. Platform abstracts must be at least two (2) pages and no more than four (4) pages in length.

Abstract Submissions are due in March 15, 2023.

Submissions
  • Authors are asked to submit a structured paper that includes background, methodology, results and conclusion (4 pages maximum).
  • Poster abstracts must be two (2) pages or less in length. Platform abstracts must be at least two (2) pages and no more than four (4) pages in length. 
  • Authors must use this template for their submissions.
  • Submissions should describe original and unpublished work with substantial results or novel methods or techniques.
  • All submissions should also include the title, a brief abstract (<200 words), names of all the authors, affiliations & e-mail addresses, and a designated corresponding author.
  • The page limit includes images, figures, tables, and references.
  • All papers must be submitted using this link.
  • Presenting authors must be registered participants.
  • All papers must be submitted and presented in English.
Publications
  • Proceedings will be made available to conference attendees.
  • Proceedings will become part of the World Congress of the International Society for Virtual Rehabilitation archives and will be provided with a DOI.
  • Selected submissions will be invited to submit a full-length manuscript for consideration for publication in a one or more special issues in relevant journal(s). More information will be provided on this in due course of time.

Pre-Conference Workshop

WCISVR welcomes submissions for pre-conference workshops of 3-hour duration. Workshops must include at least one interactive component focused on attendee participation, in addition to any planned discussion/Q&A component. Interactive components can include, but are not limited to:

  • Group simulation design exercises
  • Demonstrations
  • Case studies with audience participation
  • Audience critiques of demonstrations
  • Hands-on activities

Submissions must describe the rationale for and context of the proposed workshop and provide an outline of proposed topics, speakers, and activities.

Pre-Conference Workshop Guidelines

Pre-conference Workshop Submissions are due by March 15, 2023.

Workshop presentations will be chosen by the program committee with priority given to:

  • Topics that address novel or contentious issues
  • Bridge between basic and clinical fields
  • Include a diverse range of speakers that bring unique approaches or perspectives to the topic
  • Encourage in-depth discussion and debate between presenters and the audience
    As interactive exchange is a critical component of the symposia, each symposium submission should include two stimulating questions to the audience as a starting point for the discussion.

The workshop session should not exceed 3 hours (two 1.5 hour parts) and allow for sufficient time for the moderated discussion.

General Information
  • Include the name and affiliation of your Workshop Chair
  • Prepare to enter the contact name, affiliation/institution name and email address for any presenters in your workshop.
  • Groups with speakers from at least two countries and groups with at least one trainee or early career investigator will be prioritized ahead of groups with speakers from a single country and groups comprised of only senior scientists.
  • Prepare the rationale and context of your proposed workshop (max 250 words) that introduces the topic and justifies why the proposed topic is novel, contentious, or highly relevant for discussion. If selected, this summary will be included in the conference proceedings.
  • Prepare 2-5 Learning Outcomes of the Workshop for participants.
  • Provide Workshop overview that specifies the activities planned. Note: Workshops MUST contain at least one interactive component focused on audience participation, in addition to any planned Discussion/Q&A component.
  • Provide a brief bio, including high-resolution headshots for each presenter (max 100 words)
  • Intended Audience
  • Provide a disclosure of potential conflicts of interest for each of the workshop speakers (if applicable)

    Product Demonstration

    WCISVR invites developers, companies and entrepreneurs to showcase their VR-related product at the conference.
